Suddenly, autumn

the leaves have fallen, Brother Wolf,
trees bedraggled and beautiful
as rain drips softly, on and off,
wind gently prods now-bare branches
mourning summer's fallen playmates
regretfully swirling the dead

    1. I wonder if it's because the autumns deaths aren't necessarily true deaths? The leaves die for real, but the trees aren't really dead.
